I park my 1600 Roadstar (750 lbs) in my shed which is about 3' off the ground. When parking the bike, I drive up the ramp and into the shed. When I want to use the bike, I have to back it out down the ramp, through my yard and onto the driveway. The shed is not wide enough for me to turn the bike around myself. I have been doing this for over 13 years. BUT, lately it has been getting more difficult to do so (60 years old) and I figure that it's only a matter of time where I dump the bike going backwards.

I decided to get the bike dolly from HF. I did some research and many have stated that it will not fit the larger cruisers. The dolly is just not long enough and the kickstand plate is not out far enough. Since the dolly is fairly inexpensive and I had a 20% off slip, I decided to try it and make any mods if need be. If it's not long enough I would add a 6" piece of steel plate in the middle of the dolly to extend it. The dolly comes in two halves.

First, many have complained about the lack of instructions. Also that the diagram is not large enough or detailed enough. The instructions are fine. The diagram is also fine. The dolly is simple to put together and took only an hour and a half. It is of very good quality. The caster wheels could be better and I may upgrade them to even smoother wheels but so far, no problem. I have a plywood floor and the bike moves easily.

The Roadstar is one of the bigger cruisers out there and guys have said that it will not fit the dolly. IT WILL FIT THE DOLLY IF YOU DO NOT USE THE STOP PINS. But you really don't need them. I do agree with others that the mfg should have made this about 12" longer and probably EVERY bike made could fit using the stop pins.

Another thing is that many say that you cannot push your bike onto the dolly, you have to drive it on. Yes you can walk it on. Make sure BOTH ramps are in the down position as this is what keeps the dolly stationary. I then can sit on the seat and walk the bike onto the dolly easily. My bike weighs in at 750lbs.
As soon as I feel the back wheel lift onto the dolly I stop. The kickstand plate is not long enough BUT it will rest on the end of the tray. I then pull the ramps up and that provides "locking" the wheels in where the bike cannot move forward or backwards. The ramps in the up position is what also provides the dolly to now move with the casters. I have a plywood floor and the dolly moves easily. Since the kickstand is not in the tray as it should, you have to be careful when pushing the dolly. But it does work.

All parts fit perfectly. The only problem I have (and I knew this going in) is that to lock most bikes, you turn bars all the way to the left or right and lock with ignition key. My bike also has a fork lock. But with this dolly you CANNOT lock the bike. I will have to devise another way to lock it down.

I can now move my bike in any direction so that I can drive it our forward. This dolly is definitely worth getting. Especially with the slip it was only $65.

Package arrived in very bad shape. Carton was ripped in several places and clear tape was used to hold it together. Thought the dolly was destroyed but checked to see its condition. Did not want to ship back unless absolutely necessary. The dolly seemed to have escaped damage but could not be sure until I checked that all parts were there. Since I had to take dolly out of box there was no way I could return it in the original box. User manual illustration was too small to read (useless) so went online to view it on my tablet. After assembling dolly it turns out the kickstand did not fit in the slot and the bike's wheelbase was an inch too long at front and back. Still able to use dolly but must tie down bike and move very slowly. I have a Yamaha V-Star 1100.
I can no longer trust that Harbor Freight can send me products that will arrive in good packaging or that what I ordered had not possibly been used before.

Comments about Haul-Master 1250 Lb Capacity Low Profile Motorcycle Dolly:

Does the job for 1/2 the price of the center stand dollies I've seen. Works with both the side stand and center stand (with careful positioning of the center stand feet) of my 1976 Suzuki GT500. A piece of 2x4 under the side stand reduces the lean angle a bit to tuck in tighter against the wall of my garage. Rolls easily on concrete.
Box arrived pretty banged up. It had been handled by the straps even though it's clearly marked on the box not to do that. All the parts were still inside, though.

I use this in my 12 x 20 shed and performs and moves great. It takes a little push to get it started but then moves flawlessly. I purchased 2 because of the ease. I use it f with a 2005 mean streak and 2014 shadow. The stop pins cannot be used for these bikes, the bikes are too long.

Comments about Haul-Master 1250 Lb Capacity Low Profile Motorcycle Dolly:

As other reviewers have stated, I was also missing a few pieces of hardware in my kit. I also noticed that it wasn't the typical heavier grade hardware I've always received with my other Harbor Freight purchases. However, that dodesn't take away from the sturdiness, or usefulness of this tool.
I have two running bikes, and one project bike in a 16 x 10 foot space. The use of this dolly has made the space much more manageable, and useful.I have a 2010 Harley Fatboy on it, and I'm able to roll it around (plywood floor, concrete drive) with no problem. I like how the ramps lift up the wheels, so I can load/unload the bike by myself).
Once assembled, it appears very sturdy, and I foresee it doing it's job in my shop for many years to come.

Comments about Haul-Master 1250 Lb Capacity Low Profile Motorcycle Dolly:

I recently purchased this dolly for my 2001 Honda Shadow 1100. I needed a solution to getting my motorcycle up against a wall so as to fit my new car in the garage. After much research, this dolly was the perfect solution.

                Pro's:
                1. the dolly is very sturdy. I was pretty impressed with how well my bike sat on it and it didn't budge.
                2. the loading/unloading is a snap. Once I assembled the dolly, I didn't have to ride it up onto it, I just pushed it on there with ease. Same with the unloading, very easy.
                3. rolls great around the garage. Once I figured out how to manipulate the dolly to move it, it moved around my garage with ease.

                Cons:
                1. the directions are horrible. Now, with that being said, luckily the assembly is not hard at all, they could just be more specific. I had to take a few pieces off because I used the wrong size washers. But really, that is not a deal breaker.
                2. missing hardware. I was shorted some washers in my hardware bag, and actually wrung off a bolt trying to make sure that I got everything good and snug. Luckily, I keep a container with leftover hardware, so I was able to make it work.
                3. my bike almost doesn't fit length wise. My bike has a long wheel base (which I did not research before my purchase...my fault, not the manufacturers) so when I got my bike onto the dolly, I couldn't put the pins in each end that prevent the bike from rolling off of either end. The ramps that fold up to allow you to roll it keep my bike from coming off, but I would definitely recommend that you measure your wheel base before you buy this product.

Overall, this was great purchase, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs to be able to move your motorcycle around your garage or building.

Comments about Haul-Master 1250 Lb Capacity Low Profile Motorcycle Dolly:

Not hard to assemble, but it is heavy and would be easier with 2 people. Works fine for my 2000 Electraglide Harley. It would be even better if the kickstand tray extended farther from the main rail. My bike stands almost straight up and I would prefer that it lean more to the left for stability and to make it less touchy when moving it around in my shop. It would be fine if tied down (as the instructions say) but I don't want to tie it down. Too lazy.
My wife's 1999 Superglide is lowered to only 3.5 inch clearance and this is too low for the dolly. It hangs up on the ramp. The kickstand return spring also conflicts with the side of the main rail requiring the bike to be as far as possible to the left but is still scraping. I bought it mainly for her bike, but I can't fault the product because we lowered her bike way below standard.
I do recommend that the bolts holding the rail pieces together be installed from the top down instead of from the bottom up as shown in the instructions.
On the whole it is well conceived and decently executed, especially for the price. Only had it a few weeks so I don't know how it will hold up, but seems like it will last.

The product was on back order and wasnt scheduled to ship for 2 months, but it was delivered in half that time. The instructions werent the best, but it was easy to put together from looking at the picture. The Dolly just barely fits my Harley Duce, Iam not able to put on the stop bars. It rolls pretty well, but you have to either strap your bike down or hold it it tight while moving the dolly. The casters get caught in the floor joints of my garage, but it does its purpose especially for the low price.

So I think this Dolly is Fantastic and easy to use. Very sturdy and Im quite happy with it.
